This rotary valve tuba in Bb was made once upon the time (80s) by czech musical instrument factory V.F. Cerveny. The factory was founded in 1842 and has a strong tradition. Mr. Cerveny was an ingenious Czech wind instrument designer, in a field comparable with Adolph Sax. It was Cerveny who originally designed the system of Rotary valves for the brass instruments in 1846. The Cerveny rotary valve instruments are top of the rank compared to any other instruments. Presently, the distribution of musical instruments are in 57 countries around the world. Cerveny instruments are very well accepted for quality, good intonation and perfect workmanship. Musical instruments are still made in Czech Republic without abroud low quality meddling.

Mechanical condition
8/10
  • It is found to be working & playing well.
  • The instrument was inspected and reconditioned by a professional repairman at the end of year 2015. The trumpet was completely disassembled, cleaned mechanically and also ultrasonically.
  • Inside is the trumpet ultra clean - you will be the first who will play it after restoration.
  • All slides and main tuning slide are free and can get out.
  • All rotary valves moves well and have smooth run.
  • New valve rubber stops (bumpers).
  • New springs in valve casings.
  • One minor flaw:
Valve caps were modified. On valve caps is not a thread. Deploing of valve caps is without the thread - perhaps unusual, but functional. The function of valve caps is correct and this modification does not affect playabillity and does not affect the mechanical state of the instrument. The trumpet is fully usable and valve caps hold very well in position! :)
Cosmetical condition
9/10
  • This trumpet looks almost like new.
  • The silver plating is in an excellent shiny condition.
  • The surface is very clean, shiny and free of significant rust or scratches. Of course the instrument is not new: on closer inspection you will surely find a tiny flaws.
  • On the whole body of the horn are no dents except one 1 mm tiny dent on the bell and 1 mm imperceptible dent in bell bending.

Playability and tone quality
This instrument is in a fully playable condition. It has a nice gentle sound like all german style rotary valve trumpets. Control of this trumpet is comfortable and playing fast passages is easy - due to short keystroke. Playing this instrument I would compare to ride in a sports car. The trumpet is suitable for beginners and intermediate.
